A handmade wedding packed full of personal touches

Here at Fund Your Wedding, we’re all about helping couples achieve their dream day on a budget and without compromising on quality. Because of this, we were so excited to hear how our Bride of The Month, Karla did just that. Who better to do something than someone that’s known you your entire life, right? Karla did her own make up and even had one of her friends do her hair, which looked fantastic.Karla knew that marrying her husband was going to be the most important part of her day, she was also keen to inject as much of her own creativity as possible in a bid to save cash. Karla decided to make her own cake and the cake topper to match! Personally we think she did an amazing job. For the flowers, she visited her local florist and just had one bunch of flowers made up for a grand total of £11.Our budding bride didn’t stop there in her quest to find the best for less. Her bridesmaids dresses were purchased at TK Maxx, she sprayed a small wooden box silver for her little boy to present the rings, made her own bunting, boutonierres, personalised signs and invites. Karla didn’t stop there either! She created fun but inexpensive games for her guests, she hired a hall in a hotel for the reception, decorated with candle jars and other things that she had around the home, put up voiles, created her own sweet stand, decorated elements of the day with petals and managed to bring along her own glasses and Prosecco for the toasts. Karla told us that she has tattoos and loved them in her wedding dress. She says that your wedding should be about you. She says don’t worry about anyone else on your day and don’t think, have I spent enough, it’s really not what it’s about.I think you’ll agree that Karla was one busy bride. That said, when we read Karla’s story, there’s one thing that really stood out. Everyone had fun in the creativity of it all, the guests appreciated the sentimental and personal touches and what made it even better? Their beautiful wedding didn’t cost the earth. Take a look at some of the lovely photos that Karla had taken on her big day and admire as we did in a bride’s courage to have the day of her dreams without a nightmare bill. Well done Karla, thank you for sharing your story and your excellent money saving tips with us. We at Fund Your Wedding wish you, your husband and your family, a very long and happy future together. So, a quick note to all our readers … If you’d like the opportunity to be next month’s bride of the month, then all you need to do is send us your story and a few photos and who knows, you could be featured alongside Karla. Like us on Facebook here for more wedding inspiration.
