12 Month Wedding Planning Checklist

A year can feel like a lot of time but take it from us, it can pass in the blink of an eye and it’ll be over before you know it so try to cross some of the bigger things off at the earliest possible opportunity, that way you can just finalise the final details as your wedding day approaches and the ride will be a lot easier for everyone involved.

12 Months to go:

  • First and foremost, throw yourself an engagement party because helll yeeessss!! You’re getting married!
  • Determine your wedding budget
  • Prioritize what’s important to you right at the start so you don’t waste time worrying over things that don’t matter to you
  • Write your wedding guest list
  • Determine who will be in your bride tribe
  • Book your wedding venue (Ceremony & Reception)
  • Set a date

  • Scour Pinterest and Instagram and of course, our blog for amazing wedding inspiration

12 Things No One Tells You About Wedding Planning

11 Months to go

  • Speak to an officiant to see if they are available on the date you want to get married
  • Hire a wedding planner (optional)
  • Book a wedding photographer / videographer (The wedding venue and photographer are likely to be two of the most expensive purchases so best to get them out of the way at the very beginning. Also, photographers get booked up well in advance so make sure you book early to avoid disappointment)
  • Ask your bridesmaids to be bridesmaids

10 Months to go

  • Purchase your wedding dress. We always advise to book your venue first because if you’ve opted for a rustic barn venue, it may sway you into choosing a bohemian style dress or if you’ve opted for a classic venue, a vintage dress might match your theme. We also advise to pay for your dress early and it takes some boutiques up to 6 months to get a dress shipped which leaves plenty of time for last minute alterations etc.
  • Purchase your shoes, veil and accessories in readiness for when your dress arrives (Your dress fittings will determine how long the dress is and whether it needs taking up and you can’t do that without your shoes)
  • Book your wedding caterer. Chances are you’ve opted for a food and drinks package with your chosen venue and therefore the cost of this might have already been included when booking your venue but if you’ve opted for a venue that allows you to bring out of house caterers, make sure you decide what you want and book early to avoid disappointment)
